The AP reports that basketball player Kris Humphries' attorney wants to withdraw his effort from the Humphries-Kim Kardashian divorce case.

The attorney-- Marshall Waller-- said that he and Humphries have reached an impasse, and that he no longer wants to be involved.

Waller filed the necessary paperwork on Thursday to split from his client, with Friday being the day the hearing for the Humphries-Kardashian case.

Kardashian wants the case to be as soon as possible, while Humphries needs more time to prepare the best case, which Waller has been saying and trying to buy more time for the man who may be dealt by the NBA Trade Deadline next Thursday, further complicating his living situation.

Humphries is currently a Brooklyn Net, though there have been rumors he would be moved elsewhere, such as in a swap with embattled Charlotte Bobcats player Ben Gordon (which we mentioned yesterday).

Humphries and Kardashian got married on August 20, 2011 after the couple had been dating for almost a year. Within two months, the wedding aired on E! to accommodate Kardashian, the reality TV star. After 72 days of being married, Kardashian filed for a divorce, leading many media outlets and people throughout the country to believe that the marriage was a publicity stunt (in case the cameras at the wedding didn't say that already). Last December, it was ruled that the two would not be able to settle outside of court, though the AP said a judge thought the matter could still be figured out in or by May of 2013.
