Firefox is working on a new browser for the Windows 8 UI interface, and a test version has been released.

The Firefox Nightly channel, which is one of the first steps into final releases before Aurora, beta, and final channels, has signaled their first user-interface browser could soon come into its final stages.

The touch-oriented Firefox browser is for the new Windows 8 operating system by Microsoft. Mozilla developer Paul Rouget has posted screenshots of the browser, which will show how early the stages of the UI browser is.

The browser, nicknamed Metro, will still go under further fixes, as stated by Mozilla's Asa Doltzler.

"There's plenty of work still to do, but it's stable enough that we're ready for more and more regular testing," said Doltzer. "If you're a Firefox or Windows developer and you'd like to get involved, please let me know."

Based on comments left on Doltzer's post, it appears more testing has to be done before reaching to the Aurora channel, then beta, and finally to the final stage.

The news of the beta version comes as Microsoft issued patches for 57 issues found on their Windows operating systems and Internet Explorer browsers 6 through 10. The Windows 8 operating system, which utilizes the UI has also received a security bulletin.
