Just as a warning...

If you have already developed a strong affinity for the new Chevrolet 2014 Corvette Stingray, you may not want to see this photo.

A picture of the first C7 to get into an accident on a public road was originally posted on the Digital Corvette forum, according to Jalopnik, and shows the new hot rod all banged up on its side---a disturbing sight for Stingray fanatics.

User gpetry from Ocala, FL received the photo from a friend who was in Arizona last week---according to the information from his profile.

"Got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week," gpetry wrote on the forum post on Feb.  12.

After some color matching with GM Authority's alleged list of C7 body color options, it appears that the Laguna Blue Vette was the first Stingray, to be photographed at least, to fall victim to the dangers of the open road.

"Driving through some mountains in Arizona about 30 minutes ago In some tight switchbacks when we passed this '14 Vette," gpetry's friend wrote in the body of the email that contained the photograph.

"Car is in worse shape than look. Hit guardrail on left and bounced back to rocks. Somebody had a bad day..."

The accident was confirmed by Chevrolet and the automaker provided an explanation for what happened.

Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran said that no one was injured in the crash and that the police did not issue any tickets as a result of the accident.

"During evaluation, the driver caught the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to an accident," Doran told Jalopnik. "Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage, and no citations were issue."
