On Feb. 15 "Escape from Planet Earth" will open nationwide. The film stars Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, George Lopez, Jessica Alba, and Sofia Vergara.

The film tells the story of Astronaut Scorch Supernova who finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet.

The film received its world premiere on Feb. 6 in Los Angeles but was not reviewed by critics. Jessica Alba stated in a recent article that she was thrilled but also nervous to work on her first animated film. She stated that "I had no idea how far to push it. Then I think by the third session I got a lot more comfortable with the idea of just hearing my own voice against nothing, because there was no animation or anything."

Sofia Vergara also revealed that she enjoyed doing the role of Gabby Babblerock and that she only got three days for preparation. In addition she stated that she "recorded the voice work in two hours."

"Escape from Planet Earth" is writer-director Cal Brunker's first feature film. He previously worked on "Horton Hears a Who," "9" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift" as the storyboard artist. Brendan Fraser returns to the big screen after a two year absence. He will next be seen in "Pawn Shop Chronicles."  Rob Corddry last starred in 2013's "Warm Bodies" and will also be seen in Michael Bay's "Pain and Gain." Jessica Alba reprises her roles in "Machete Kills" and "Sin City" this winter while Sofia Vergara next appears in "The Smurfs 2" and also stars in "Machete Kills.

The film also stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Jane Lynch, Ricky Gervais, Steve Zahn and Jonathon Morgan Heit. The Weinstein Company will release it in 3,000 theaters and is rated PG for action and some mild rude humor.
