Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet Re-Stocked This Saturday; Lifecycle Support to End in 2017, What It Really Means?

Microsoft's Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet is expected to last until 2017, based on its Lifecycle report.

The new Surface Pro tablet made its launch last Saturday, releasing a 64GB and 128GB variant. According to Microsoft Support, the Lifecycle of the Surface Pro tablet is until July 10, 2017.

The Lifecycle, according to Microsoft, "standardizes Microsoft product support policies for Business and Developer products, and for Consumer, Hardware, and Multimedia products."

Since Oct. 26 of last year, Microsoft offers a minimum of four years of Support for Consumer Hardware products starting from its release date of the products general availability.

"Microsoft does not offer Extended Support for its Consumer Hardware products. Hardware products released prior to October 26, 2012 will not adhere to this new policy but rather defer to the originally stated Support Lifecycle timeline unless otherwise noted," noted Microsoft's Support policy.

Therefore, owners of the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro can expect software updates until the July 10, 2017 date.

The news comes as Microsoft plans to re-stock the 128GB variant of the Surface Pro after selling out the device in one day.

As Latinos Post reported, 128GB Surface Pro sold out but Microsoft Surface General Manager Panos Panay in a blog post stated it is the company's priority to have their customers with a Surface Pro tablet "as soon as possible."

Panay further iterated the message in a tweet on Tuesday:

There continues to be great demand. We're working hard to restock so we can reach as many customers as soon as possible. #winchat

Panay also responded to a Twitter follower's disappointment:
