Diablo 3 PvP Releases In Patch 1.07: No Team-Based Dueling, Only FFA

Blizzard is finally giving Diablo 3 players what most of them want - the right and ability to pummel fellow humans (why else do you think it's called Battle.Net?)  with the loot they've collected from slaying demons. Patch 1.07 is officially live now in the Americas, and introduces free-for-all PvP into the popular PC game for the first time. 

"For those who wish to test their mettle against fellow Nephalem, your time has come. Players will now be able to battle one another in a new zone designed specifically for this style of combat called "The Scorched Chapel." This zone can be accessed by speaking with Nek the Brawler in any of the four Act hubs, and supports 2 to 4 players in a Free-For-All format," reads the official patch notes from Blizzard. 

Brawling, or dueling, it seems will only be available in a free-for-all variety and won't keep score or offer objectives. Players can take on another human in one-on-one combat, or bump up the count to three or four players, all of who will duke it out to simply be the last one standing. There's no word from Blizzard on whether team-based PvP will be introduced anytime soon, although given their penchant for polish, it might be some time. 

Good news for hardcore players (who might remember some particularly heart-breaking duels in Diablo 2) is that dying during a duel won't permanently kill off your character.

The Scorched Chapel, Blizzard says, has "custom geometry and features four different areas: the church, the graveyard, the river, and the lake." To go along with the new PvP addition, Blizzard is also adding a PvP chat channel to Battle.Net. 

There are some other notable changes in the patch as well. Blizzard has done away with the "flinch" animation that causes gamers to lose control of their character for a short period of time after being hit by multiple monsters. Monster Power has also given a significant boost, and there are the usual class fixes and new recipes to be found.
