The Wild West comes alive in Thom Hatch's latest book, The Last Outlaws: The Lives and Legends of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Hatch achieves what most historical writers fail at, engaging their readers while giving a full-untainted history of their choice material.

Writing about two of history's biggest outlaws is no small order. But Hatch does so beautifully, creating a vivid image of who these men truly were and what motivated them. No detail is too small or too insignificant. Hatch doesn't over saturate the reader with mundane information. Every detail, every fact, gives the reader a clearer image of the men who terrorized and captivated America's Wild West.

Hatch is a skilled and veteran historical writer and his expertise shines through in his latest work. Readers are motivated to continued reading, page after page chock full of historical facts. The Last Outlaws is not a history textbook, nor should it be confused as one. Hatch manages to convey the enigmatic individuals Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid turned out to be without boring or weighing down his readers.

The Last Outlaws is also not to be considered light reading. Readers will learn of Butch and Sundance's most impressive bank and train robberies as well as their journey down to South American where the two hoped to leave their outlaw lives behind. After a failed attempt at ranching in Argentina, the two head back to New York before heading back down to Bolivia, where they commit their last robbery.

Thom Hatch's The Last Outlaws is sure to captivate the imagination of many readers. It is available now in hardcover.
