A new update has been released for iPhone 4S owners with the latest iOS 6 software version.

Apple sent an over-the-air that is also available online for the iOS 6.1.1. The update does not specify the exact fixes and patches it will cover but Apple noted, "This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S."

According to Pocket Lint, the update is 23MB. The update arrives shortly after British carrier Vodafone issued an warning for customers not to install the iOS 6.1.1 operating system due to 3G connectivity issues, problems receiving and sending texts, and making outgoing calls.

Vodafone has reached out to customers via text and forums about the issue, noting it had notified Apple.

"Some customers may occasionally experience difficulty in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts or to connect to the Internet," wrote Phil from the Vodafone Tech Team in a forum post. " Apple is working on a solution to their software issue. These connection problems are intermittent."

Phil added that Apple is investigating the issue and perhaps the update provided by Apple solves the issue.
