As the Xperia Z starts rolling out in certain parts of the world, starting with Japan, we're beginning to see more details emerge of the Xperia Z in action, along with a cool docking station that's on sale now.

A couple of tests of the Xperia Z's hardware have come out confirming suspicions that, yes, Sony's new device is impressive. First, a test of the Xperia Z's 13-megapixel camera in video mode:

Ah, February in Paris. We've reported before that the HTC's camera looks like it will be capable of taking better low-light pictures than the iPhone and others, but this video, via Ebests, was uploaded to YouTube by a French tech blog FrAndroid, shows how good the camera is at low-light video as well, beating the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and LG Nexus 4 in image quality and lighting in these Paris scenes.

Another, less glamorous but important, test of the device was done in Russia. This one used the AnTuTu Tester app to gauge the Xperia Z's battery performance, and comes via AndroidAuthority.

The Xperia Z outperforms the LG Optimus 2X and the Samsung Galaxy S2, but the benchmark only compares it to older models like those. The Xperia Z is rated for up to 11 hours of 3G talk time, which is actually pretty standard in the new line of smartphones coming out. It has a 2,330 mAh battery, which can uniquely be charged by connecting it to the Xperia Tablet Z (you can still charge it using normal methods).

The final update comes via AndroidHeadlines, and it's of a nice landscape charging dock that's available in the Xperia UK store. It looks like the display is easy to access in this dock, and it may make for a nice cinema set-up, since the Xperia Z has a whopping 5-inch 1920x1080 HD display. Few technical details are known about the dock yet, but it will come in all three colors that the Xperia Z has and will cost $40.
