'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: Chace Crawford Says He'd "Love The Challenge" Of Playing Christian Grey (Poll)

'Gossip Girl' actor Chace Crawford may have found the perfect new job since his run on the CW show has ended. The 27-year-old actor recently spoke to Fox about wanting to play the coveted role of Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of "50 Shades of Grey."

"I would love the challenge," Crawford told FOX411's Pop Tarts column. "I have not read the books, but what I know is that it is risqué, and to be honest, anything to shake up from the way I have been going would be good." The hunky TV and film actor has previously been mentioned as a contender in the months-long casting rumor cycle.

The "What to Expect When You're Expecting" star continued, "Hey, if they ask me to come and read, I would definitely do so. I don't even know what the character is like; I haven't read anything or heard anything about it!"

And as for the intense S&M porn-like sex scenes? Well those are just his cup of tea, the actor told reporters. "I am only comfortable with S&M sex scenes! The other ones are just too simple and boring for me," Crawford joked with Fox. "I actually think, whether it is a sex scene, or screaming at something to get something across. I think it is kind of attacked the same way, and you're in the work mode, and you stay professional. It has never been awkward or intimidating."

While the actor may be up for playing the sexy and dominant Christian Grey, he'll have to face some stiff competition from some long-term contenders. 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer has been a consistent fan-favorite, while "Man of Steel" actor Henry Cavill has risen in popularity. Fellow fan-favorite Ian Somerhalder ('The Vampire Diaries') has declined in support since the last Latinos Post fan poll despite his ardent desire to play the role.

However, the actors and fans will have to wait until the production team, headed by British author E.L. James, decides on a director for the film. The team, comprised of screenwriter Kelly Marcel and producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, has also stated that no casting decisions will be made until the script is finalized.

Despite not have a set release date, "50 Shades" has enjoyed months of media speculation regarding directors choice and casting decisions.
