Barely a day after Chris Brown crashed his car into an alley in Beverly Hills Saturday, claiming to be chased down by paparazzi, photographers are denying responsibility for the crash.
Neither Brown nor anyone else was injured, according to Beverly Hills Police, after he crashed his Porsche into the wall . Brown lost control of the car after he was allegedly cut off by photographers chasing him, his representatives say.
"The occupants jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle," a representative for Brown said, as reported by Rolling Stones Magazine. "In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley at which point his was cut off by two additional vehicles."
Brown, whose fifth record, "Fortune," has been nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at Sunday's Grammy Awards, was on his way to a charity event.
However, the agency representing the photographers in question was quick to fire back.
"No photographers were following him at the time he crashed," Chris Doherty, the owner of INF photo agency told TMZ. "He crashed his car and it's convenient for him to blame us. He needs to be careful with his defamatory statements."
On Twitter, reaction to Brown's car crash was mostly unsympathetic, several Twitter users heckling the troubled singing superstar for his domestic violence incident in 2009 with singer/girlfriend Rihanna.
"I'm glad that Chris Brown survived his car crash because I didn't want to hear another version of Elton John's "Candle in the Wind," wrote Steven Amiri.
"There will come a time when you can be Chris Brown in Grand Theft Auto," tweeted TV writer Vanessa Ramos.
Jess Dweck, a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, tweeted, "Chris Brown crashed his car? I hope his insurance covers karma."
Comics writer Gerry Duggan had a laugh at Brown's expense, as well. "Maybe Chris Brown surviving the car crash is just the beginning of a Final Destination scenario," he tweeted.
TV personality Andy Levy tweeted, "Hitting walls > hitting women."
