Some new rumors about the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S are surfacing today, this time with their origins being someone, somewhere in China. As the rumors spread, many are asking if anything passes for an industry source these days.

The rumors are saying that Apple is planning two new iPhone models sometime in 2013: an iPhone 5S that looks exactly like an iPhone 5 and a new iPhone 6 which will boast a 5-inch touchscreen display. There are indications that the iPhone 6 would come in a very thin and light body too.

The rumors were first reported by MacRumors after a posting on the Chinese site Laoyaoba.com was translated by Brightwire. The source supposedly saw new iPhone models at an Apple supplier in China. Here's the Brightwire translation of the some of the pertinent details released in a Sina Weibo report about the anonymously sourced report, which ended up on Laoyaoba.com.

  • A source told Chinese mobile phone information site Laoyaoba.com that he has seen the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 at Apple's suppliers. Both models may be released in 2013, according to the website's microblog on Thursday evening.
  • The source noted that the iPhone 5S resembles the iPhone 5, and the five-inch iPhone 6 is lighter and thinner.

Don't rejoice about Apple releasing their version of the Galaxy Note yet. As you can see, the chain of translation, reporting, and reposting obscures the entirely unknown source of the first report, which 9to5mac has traced down to a non-news-affiliated microblog that is part of the Laoyaoba.com site. While 9to5mac concedes that there have been prototypes of a larger-screen iPhone (somewhat reliable reports have it at 4.7-inches), it's a bad idea to take this uncorroborated report very seriously.

If something comes out that backs up this rumor, though, we'll definitely find out and report it to you. And keep in mind some releases start out as rumors, like the recent 128GB iPad that we reported before Apple announced it.

So keep following us for more on the next products Apple has in store.
