The Pokémon franchise has evolved in many ways, from more than 649 pocket monsters, graphics, storylines, evolutions, consoles, but one subject remains in question - the logo.

Since its debut in the late 90s, he Pokémon franchise has used the same yellow and blue logo across all merchandises, on its card games, anime series, and video games.

As you'll see below, in comparison to the Japanese Pokémon logo, one has evolved more than the other.

One difference however is the sub-logo for the non-Japanese merchandises have differed, but again, it's the sub-logo and not the main logo.

The image comparison was posted on Know Your Meme, and fans commented on their thoughts

vip: "Yes the western pokemon logo needs a major overhaul."

theproton: "If it aint broke"

fbbviv: "Now it's true that they never changed the logo design for "pokemon" itself as Japan has...but we at least did some pretty typography and such for the individual title informations similar to the style the Japanese logo has....right?"

Majora's Mare: "NAME-BRAND-RECOGNITION!"

ZillieZephyr: "Logo design isn't as simple as making something "look cool." It's about making a company identifiable from the rest. It's about researching who your audience is and how they would react. The purpose of a logo...it's functionality... is more important than how it simply looks."

Zillie Zephyr made some very valid points. The main logo could remain the same, for the most part, and the secondary logo, such as the name of the new games or season of the anime series, could be the only change.

But even with that said, the new "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" logo does have an additional difference in Japanese and non-Japanese trailers. The logo features a DNA-like symbol. The DNA could give a reason why the upcoming games are titled "X" and "Y," likely representing the chromosomes rather than dimensions, however, that's not 100 percent confirmed.

"Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" will be released in October across Australia, Europe, North America, and Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.
