Google may be developing an impressive new Chromebook, called "Chromebook Pixel," to challenge Apple's Retina-enabled laptops, if a video leaked onto YouTube is authentic.

The video, which you can see below, looks like a professional teaser ad for a new super-high definition touchscreen Chromebook supposedly made from stem to stern by Google. There aren't many details in the video on the laptop's specs, other than that the display will boast 4 million pixels, similar to what you find in a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The rumored 2560x1700p resolution Pixel display will also apparently be a touchscreen, which you won't find in a Retina Macbook,

The video was created by Slinky.me, whose CEO has apparently worked for Google in the past. It appeared today on YouTube after Slinky's CEO, Victor Koch, announced on his Google+ account, seemingly in a hurry, "[sic] Our all servers were attacked by hackers, and we apologize for the fact that many projects have been shown previously!"

Rumors have circulated for months that Google was planning on constructing its own laptop for Chrome OS, featuring a 12.85-inch touchscreen display. So far there are only four Chromebooks on the market, two by Samsung, one by Acer, and a recent 14-inch display model introduced by Hewlette-Packard (HP) earlier this month. The tag line of this video would imply that at least the rumors that Google would try its hand at an Apple-style device, with both hardware and software designed and produced under the same roof.

The line is, Designed by Google - Down to the last pixel."
