The friendly match between Sweden and Argentina is one of the most anticipated of Wednesday afternoon's slate as it will feature two of the most prominent names in international soccer: Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi.
Reports on Tuesday indicated that Ibrahimovic may not play the entire game, but the idea of these two soccer titans facing off should make for a match that should feature numerous offensive opportunities. "I'll be more careful with those who have Champions League matches next week," said Sweden coach Erik Hamren said. "It's an extra special situation for (Ibrahimovic) since he has a match Friday with his club team."
The Argentines are loaded with offensive options. Aside from Messi, Coach Alejandro Sabella can deploy Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, and Angel Di Maria. The Argentineans have not lost since 2011 when Venezuela took them down in their opening World Cup qualifying match.
Sweden meanwhile has not lost to a match since its summer bout against Brazil. Since then Sweden took down England in a four goal effort from Ibrahimovic and even climbed out of a 4-0 deficit against Germany to draw 4-4 in a World Cup qualifying match.
The teams have played against each other just two times in history; Sweden won one and the squads drew the other.
