Last week, it was revealed that Silvia Navarro, protagonist of Univision's "Amor Bravio," had auditioned for a leading role in the upcoming "La Tempestad." However, recent reports indicate that she is out of the running.

Producer Salvador Mejia stated in an interview with Maxine Woodside that Navarro would not be in the soap opera. According to En El Show, Mejia made it clear that Navarro would not play the role of the villain in the show and that the "only antagonist in "La Tempestad" would be a 20- year old girl that has not been cast." The publication also asserts that Mejia mentioned Ximena Navarette and Elizabeth Gutierrez as the favorites for the role.

Former Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete reportedly auditioned for the leading role a few weeks ago; during the session she was asked to kiss protagonist William Levy. Gutierrez is Levy's girlfriend and has two children with him. Earlier reports indicated that Levy and Gutierrez had no interest in working together but fans have clamored for the two to share the screen as lovers.

There has been no confirmation on whether Navarrete or Gutierrez would get the role. Other rumored actresses in line to perform alongside Levy include Zuria Vega, Angelique Boyer, and Myriam Abreu. Sandra Echeverria was offered the role but turned it down to purse her film career.
