Trailers for Marvel's anticipated Iron Man 3, out May 3, have been scarce. Marvel fans and Iron Man fanatics have been waiting impatiently on the edge of their seats for more news regarding the upcoming film. Well, fans can finally take a sigh of relief after a new trailer for the third installment of Iron Man was aired last night during the Super Bowl.

The trailer shows off the movie's insane, reality-bending special effects as Tony Stark rescues people from an inevitable plane crash by pulling them out from the falling plane. And of course, it's done Robert Downey Jr. style: calm and reserved with a hint of sarcasm.

As exciting as the Iron Man 3 trailer looks, we all know how these movies start to deteriorate after the first and second installments. In the first of three, we see Stark create Iron Man and use him to fight evil. The engaging plot line follows a distinguishable beginning, middle, and end that make a fantastic foundation for the series. Iron Man 2 gets a bit muddled with government involvement, Stark's ruined relationships, and fails to provide any redeemable underlying moral.

So what can we expect in Iron Man 3: An arsenal of special effects, a faltering plot line, and an unsuccessful stretch for a new villain as Stark attempts to piece his life back together. That's only if Hollywood follows its own trend of slowly destroying movie franchises. Classic examples include Spider Man, The Hangover, and Jurassic Park.

So as action-packed as the Iron Man 3 trailer is, be wary of what the third movie in a series entails. Hollywood could get it right this time, as it has seldom in the past, but otherwise get ready for an action pack ride of, well, action, and not much more.
