In the week following the busy push for immigration reform, President Obama and his administration are looking to keep the pressure on regarding fixing the immigration system.

President Obama is heading to Minneapolis on Monday to talk about gun control--one of several hot button issues the president is expected to tackle during his second term--but key administration officials will continue to push on the immigration front.

One key meeting for the president this week will be with labor leaders and other CEOs across-the-board from different U.S. industries to talk about immigration reform and how it ties into revitalizing the economy.

"Tomorrow, the president will hold meetings at the White House with labor leaders and progressive leaders, as well as a number of CEOs from across industries, to discuss his commitment to getting a bipartisan bill passed in 2013, and how immigration reform fits within his broader agenda for economic growth and competitiveness," according to a White House statement.

The itinerary seems to be fitting in with President Obama's promise to put immigration reform at the forefront following his election in November. In January, the president offered up a proposal that would involve a pathway to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

A bipartisan group of Democrats and Republicans from the U.S. Senate countered with a joint plan on immigration reform of their own, one which also offers a conditional path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while adding border security.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Janet Napolitano will be traveling to San Diego, Calif., and El Paso, Texas, as she seeks to inspect the border's security operations along the Southwest border, an aide told the New York Times Sunday. Following that trip, Napolitano will talk with state and local officials about how to best secure the border while keeping legal travel and trade smooth.

Aides for the Obama administration also will be looking to do some public lobbying for legislation on immigration this week.
