Who is better, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? The two greatest living soccer players not only compete in the same league but for rival squads. As Latinos Post compares both players, let us look at what the two superstars accomplished during the 22th week of La Liga and like this attempt to determine who displayed better performance.

Messi: The Argentinean superstar had a decent week though hardly a remarkable one by his standards. During the big clash with Madrid he set up Cesc Fabregas' lone goal. During the weekend tilt with Valencia, he scored a penalty goal to salvage a point for Barcelona.

Ronaldo: Ronaldo had a few solid chances to tie the game against Barcelona, including a cross that he headed just wide of the left post. In the weekend match between Madrid and Granada Ronaldo scored the lone goal in the match... into his own net. It was the first own goal of Ronaldo's illustrious career.

Stats through Week 21 of the 2012-13 season

Messi: 34 goals, 8 assists (5 goals, 2 assists in UCL; 2 goals in Spanish Super Cup; 4 goals in the Copa Del Rey)

Ronaldo: 21 goals, 4 assists (6 goals in UCL, 1 assist; 2 goals in Spanish Super Cup; 4 goals in the Copa Del Rey)

Goals in 2013

Messi: 10

Ronaldo: 10

Edge: Neither is really deserving of a win this weekend, but Messi scored a goal and an assist in two games this week while Ronaldo's only stat to marvel at is a lone goal that cost his team. Messi wins without a doubt.

Messi Leads 13-9 for the 2012-13 season.

Ronaldo has a 3-2 edge in 2013.

During week 5, both players earned a point for equally strong weeks. During week 10, neither earned a point for forgettable weeks.
