"God of War: Ascension" is due in a little over a month and the reviews will likely follow a few days prior. However, a few publications have already chimed in on the single player mode for the title... and the impressions are positive.

IGN writer Greg Miller states that "God of War: Ascension single player is so good that all I wanted to do was stop playing it this evening. Slitting the throat of a monster with its own blade, smashing open red chests for orbs, staring slack-jawed at one of the most beautiful games on the PS3 - I understood early on that this was the Kratos experience we all know and love; no need to ruin it for myself. I wanted to put the controller down and wait for a complete copy of the game to arrive."

Miller also praised the visuals of the game and asserted that the skin looks real and the environments are "crisp."

Shack News's Anthony Yoon comments on the brilliant camera work in the title and its intense cinematic quality. "From eerily detailed close-ups to Kratos' stern face, to epic pans of Titan-sized beasts, the game's dynamic camera makes the campaign a truly cinematic experience," writes Yoon.

Yoon does state that the single player campaign seems like a repetition of past titles and notes that the multi-player mode is where the majority of innovation likely went.

The prequel will launch on March 12, 2013 for the Sony Playstation 3. Every single "God of War" title has been met with great reviews. The original game (released in 2005) obtained a 94 grade on aggregate score Metacritic. The sequel obtained a score of 93, while the third game in the trilogy was given a 92.
