The latest episode of 'Grey's Anatomy," entitled "Bad Blood," left tensions high among the doctors of Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital as "physician advisor" Alana Cahill (guest star Constance Zimmer) continued to make changes and cuts to their work life. Her latest project includes efficiently supplying the operating rooms, much to the anger of the surgeons.

Alana also decides to bring in an advisor to teach the general surgeons an "efficient" way to perform a hernia surgery. Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Richard (James Pickens, Jr.) participate in the new seminar, but Richard is anything but happy about it. While Bailey and Meredith decide to practice the new procedure, Richard is reluctant to change how he performs the surgery. During their practice, Meredith has a slight freakout when she feels a "flutter" in her stomach. She immediately thinks that there's something wrong with her baby, but is comforted when Bailey tells her that it's just the baby kicking in the womb.

Meanwhile, Meredith's husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) works with April (Sarah Drew) to find a way to save the hospital from financial ruin without getting rid of the ER. They rework the hospital's existing budget by cutting from several departments until they find what they believe is the perfect plan. They present the plan to Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Alana, only to be told that they won't get the ER back and that the hospital is looking to sell.

Christina (Sandra Oh) works with one of her interns on a complicated case involving a teenage boy who's a Jehovah's Witness, meaning he doesn't believe in taking in other people's blood. The boy is unconscious from the moment he's brought into the hospital, and despite her beliefs, Christina respects his family's wishes that he not be transfused anybody's blood. However, her intern doesn't see it that way and is caught trying to give him blood secretly. In the end, the young man dies without getting the blood he desperately needed to survive.

In the upcoming episode of 'Grey's Anatomy,' entitled "The Face of Change," the doctors of Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital will battle it out to become the hospital's "new face." The hospital continues to spiral downward in financial ruin following their loss in the plane accident and in its new changes "implements new policies which test the patience of the staff."

Meanwhile, April will bring in an emergency case involving a young boy to the hospital's now defunct emergency room. A promo for the episode shows several doctors working furiously together in secret to save the young boy's life. ABC teases that Jackson (Jesse Jackson) and Alex (Justin Chambers) will join forces to work with a transgender teen as well.

'Grey's Anatomy' S9E14, "The Face of Change," airs on Thursday, February 7 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
