Burkina Faso and Togo face off in the last quarterfinals match of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Burkina Faso had gone 17 games without a win in the tournament dating back to their fourth place finish in the 1998 edition. The team salvaged its first match of the group stage against Nigeria thanks to a last second goal from Alain Traoré. The scored ended 1-1. In its second match of the tournament, Burkina Faso destroyed Ethiopia 4-0 courtesy of goals from Traoré (34', 74'), D. Koné (79') and Jonathan Pitroipa (90' + 5'). In the final group match, the squad drew 0-0 with Zambia.

Togo will make its first quarterfinals appearance in seven tries. The squad lost its first match against Ivory Coast, but took down Algeria 2-0 thanks to goals from Dové Wome and Emmanuel Adebayar. In the final match of group play, Togo drew 1-1 with Tunisia. Serge Gakpé scored the lone goal from Togo.

Togo has not lost to Burkina Faso since 1999; that is a span of four matches. The two teams have never played against one another in this tournament but have faced off 19 times. Togo won nine, drew six, lost four against Burkina Faso.

Predictions:  This will go the distance with the penalties deciding the match. Togo pulls out the win.
