The top-ranked Michigan Wolverines duel #3 Indiana in the premier college basketball game this week. The game starts at 9 pm EST on ESPN. The free Michigan Basketball audio live stream is here.

Michigan has not been lower than fifth this season in either the AP Top 25 or the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Wolverines are currently the best team in the AP's eyes and second according to the coaches. This week is the first one since 1992 that Michigan has been ranked #1. On the early 1990's Wolverines, the Fab Five roamed the court, which we wrote about here. Michigan has been second or better in both polls for six weeks this season (out of 13 weeks so far). The Wolverines have been ranked above the Hoosiers since week six.

The Wolverines are third in the NCAA in shooting percentage at .510. They have won four in a row since the only loss of their season to #15 Ohio State on January 13. The last three Michigan wins have been by double digits, with the team recording 16 two-digit victories this year. Eleven of those have been by more than 20 points. In the first game of the season, the Wolverines scored 100 points. They have reached the 80-point mark nine times, including six out of seven games between December 8 and January 6.

Trey Burke leads the team in points per game (17.9), assists per game (7.1) and steals per game (1.4). Mitch McGary has the highest rebounds per game average with 6 per contest. Jordan Morgan has a .626 field goal percentage to led all Wolverines in that category. Tim Hardaway, Jr. (15.5 points per game, .411 three-point field goal percentage) and Glenn Robinson III (5.8 rebounds per game, .601 field goal percentage) are both solid contributors with NBA roots from their fathers.

In the last game against Northwestern, the sophomore Burke led his team with 18 points and eight assists, while Jon Horford's seven rebounds paced the squad in a 68-46 victory at home on Wednesday.

The last time these teams squared off, 22nd-ranked Michigan held off the 23rd-ranked Hoosiers 68-56 in February in Ann Arbor last season. Burke's 18 points were tied for a game high. In the other 2011-2012 match-up, Indiana had topped the Wolverines 73-71 in Bloomington about a month before. In the loss, Hardaway, Jr. had 19 points, but was 0-for-7 from three point land.
