Chelsea and Newcastle are two clubs headed in opposite directions. While Chelsea remains among the top three in the premier league, Newcastle is only a few points clear or relegation.

Chelsea has not lost in its last four games and has lost just once in its last nine. In the club's most recent tilt, Chelsea blew a 2-0 lead against Reading. Chelsea got goals from Juan Mata (45'+1') and Frank Lampard (66') but conceded two goals to Adam Le Foudre (87', 90'+4'). Peter Cech will return to defend the Chelsea nets after being out with a calf injury. Manager Rafa Benitez recently reaffirmed his confidence in a top four finish for the club. "I am confident we have enough quality and enough options to win more games in a row and be top four... We never play to be in the top four, we play to win every game. The top four is nearly guaranteed. We will try for top two or higher."

Chelsea Statistics

Leading Goal Scorer: Frank Lampard, Juan Mata (9)

Home Record: 6-4-2

Away Record: 7-3-2

Last 5 Games: 2-2-1

Newcastle won in its last match but has won just twice in its last nine games. In its last game, the team took down Aston Villa 2-1.   Papiss Demba Cisse (19') scored the team's first goal and Yohan Cabaye (31') supplied the eventual game winner.

Newcastle Statistics

Leading Goal Scorer: Papiss Demba Cisse (5)

Home Record: 5-1-6

Away Record: 1-5-6

Last 5 Games: 1-1-3

Previous meetings: Chelsea defeated Newcastle 2-0 in their last match on Aug. 25, 2012.

Predictions: Predicting a Chelsea outcome is tough these days. The team has the capacity to win every game it plays but tends to reserve its worst performances against bottom-tier teams. I think this ends in a 3-3 draw.
