Tech giant Google has announced its third annual Google Science Fair in partnership with several companies, including CERN, National Geographic, Scientific America and LEGO Group. According to Google, the science fair hopes "to find the next generation of scientists and engineers."

The third annual Google Science Fair is accepting student applicants ages 13-18 "to participate in the largest online science competition and submit their ideas to change the world." According to the company, the last two science fairs solicited submissions from over 90 countries, with previous winners tackling issues of breast cancer, hearing loss and water ecosystems.

This year, students will be able to apply in 13 languages, including: English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Polish, Japanese, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Brazilian Portuguese. According to Google's official blog, students have until April 30, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. PDT to submit their projects. Google will then choose 90 regional finalists-30 from Asia Pacific, 30 from the Americas and 30 from Europe/Middle East/Africa-in June.

Students will be able to work by themselves or in a group of up to three students, Google said.

The top 15 finalists, who will be chosen by the judges, will be flown to Google's headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. for the final event on September 23, 2013. According to Google, a panel of international judges will choose the top winner in each age group, as well as the Gran Prize winner.

Several awards will be given, including a $50,000 Google scholarship, "experiences" at CERN, Google or the LEGO Group, a trip to the Galapagos with National Geographic Expeditions and digital access for the winner's school to the Scientific American archives. Scientific American will award another $50,000 Science in Action prize to "one project that makes a practical difference by addressing a social, environmental or health issue."
