Aside from a 24-hour marathon of "The Color Purple," few things inspire such anxiety and sheer terror as the pressure of buying Oprah Winfrey a birthday gift. So, what do you buy the woman who has everything? If you're filmmaker Tyler Perry, you transcend traditional gifts and think outside the box. I know ... a back injury! Thought Perry between writing "Madea Goes to Tyler Perry's House For a Totally Awesome Dinner Party" parts one and two.

Winfrey might not have planned to spend her 59th birthday in bed with a sprained back, but that's just the gift she essentially received from Perry. The "Alex Cross" star bought Winfrey a tremendous bouquet of flowers for the special occasion, but the present appears to have been a little too heavy. While carrying the flowers around her mansion, searching for the perfect spot, Winfrey injured her back.

The OWN talk show host shared the news while responding to a fan's tweet on Wednesday.

"In bed with an ice pack most of today. Moved a bushel of roses sent by @tylerperry and sprained a back muscle #birthdaylove," she wrote.

Perry felt terrible about the incident and quickly apologized to his good friend on Twitter.

"I FEEL SO BAD. I like to send really large flower arrangements to people for whatever occasion. Well, I sent one to Oprah yesterday for her birthday. She strained her back picking it up. No joke! Feel better Oprah. Happy birthday. Sorry," tweeted Perry.

Next year, Perry said he doesn't plan to buy Winfrey anything so heavy.

"Next year, I'm sending her one rose," he said.

Oprah seemed to take the whole accident in stride, replying: "No need to feel bad. Love the roses and got an extra day in bed. Can you say #icepack?"

The iconic talk show host received numerous Happy Birthday wishes from celebrities and fans via Twitter.

"Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Enjoying lunch with Stedman. No plans to leave p.j.'s all day," she said.

Winfrey and Perry are longtime friends. The pair is set to team up on several sitcom productions on Winfrey's OWN Network later in 2013.
