The second season of ABC's hit drama series 'Scandal' is well underway and fans are eager to find out what lies ahead for fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn). Show creator Shonda Rhimes recently spoke to TV Line about the scandalous couple and their significant others.

Latinos Post has also rounded up the season's juiciest spoilers, including inside scoop on the season's future episodes.

'Scandal' returns on Thursday with the bombshell news that Fitz is trying to divorce his wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) and that Edison (Norm Lewis) has proposed to Liv. In clips shared by TV Line, Fitz seems determined to not only go ahead with the divorce, but continue being president as well. His determination will prove to be a burden to Cyrus (Jeff Perry).

As for Liv's marriage proposal, Rhimes told TV Line, "Now  that we know about the election rigging and we know the lengths that she has gone to, I think it's possible that Edison can be an escape route for Olivia. I don't think anyone believes that Edison is the love of her life. But Edison can feel like a very safe escape route. He's the guy she's supposed to want because technically on paper he has all the attributes of a guy that she's supposed to want."

But should fans hold their breath for a D.C. wedding? You'll have to wait and see.

The cast will see a new recurring guest star, Scott Foley, who plays Jake Weston. Foley will first appear in the season's fourteenth episode "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" on February 14. According to Rhimes, "Scott's character plays a pivotal role in the final nine-episode arc. And he plays a person who is not what he seems on any level. At any time. Ever." The show's creator also hints at a possible romantic relationship for Foley's character.

For those wondering whether the election rigging fiasco will finally put an end to Fitz and Liv's relationship, the two will heat up during "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot." Fans can also expect a 10 month time jump during the fourteenth episode, Rhimes told TV Line.

'Scandal' airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
