Chelsea has had a hard time on the tournament circuit, but its premier league play has improved noticeably over the last few weeks. Rafa Benitez's club looks to continue that upbeat form Wednesday against Reading.

Chelsea has not lost in its last three premier league matches and has won six of its last eight league contests.

In its latest battle, Chelsea took down Arsene Wenger's Arsenal 2-1 with goals from Frank Lampard and Juan Mata; both players lead the team with eight goals. With 45 points, Chelsea's hopes of reaching first place Manchester United (56 points) are fading away.

The team is seven points behind Manchester City, but will likely have to settle for maintaining third place. Chelsea is four points clear of fourth place Tottenham Hotspur but needs to play at a high level the rest of the way if it hopes to qualify for next year's Champions League. The match with Reading is crucial as Chelsea has proven to be inconsistent against the weaker teams in the league.

Chelsea only managed to obtain one out of six points in two matches with the Queens Park Rangers and struggled with second division clubs in the FA Cup and Capital One Cup.

Reading is in 19th place and is two points out of avoiding a relegation spot. The team has won its last two matches and has won three out of its last five overall.

Last time these clubs met, Chelsea won 4-2 on Aug. 22.

Predictions: If Chelsea shows up, then this is an easy 3-0 win. If not, then it could end in a draw or even a loss for Benitez's club. I think they win.
