Drew Barrymore revealed on Friday's The View that she and her husband Will Kopelman will raise their daughter Olive in the Jewish faith, reports E! Online.

Barrymore said her husband is "a nice Jewish man from a nice Jewish family," and added that while she has not officially converted to Judaism, she has embraced it and describes it as "a beautiful faith."

"I'm a shiksa," she said, according to E! Online. ('Shiksa' is a Yiddish word describing a non-Jewish woman. Originally it was a derogatory term, but today it tends to be used more light-heartedly, according to the Urban Dictionary.)

"I do the seders and we do Passover," Barrymore continued. "I haven't converted yet, [but] Olive will be raised traditionally."

Barrymore married Will Kopelman in June 2012, and she says they had a "very traditional" Jewish wedding. "It's a beautiful faith and I'm so honored to be around it," she added. "It's so family-oriented...The stories are so beautiful and it's incredibly enlightening. I'm really happy."

The actress gave birth to Olive in September, and Barrymore said she is determined to keep her daughter far from the limelight.

She said on The View, "[I've been] crying for two months about having to take my daughter outside into this very tumultous world that has no protection for people. I agree with other countries when they won't allow the kids to be photographed."

Barrymore said she has consulted Olive's godfather, Steven Spielberg, for advice about dealing with publicity while raising a family.
