Season 3 The Voice winner Cassadee Pope started out as a pop star, but under the guidance of her coach Blake Shelton, she discovered she had a knack for country songs.

Now, she has a record deal with Republic Nashville, "a label known for its success with country acts such as Martina McBride, Eli Young Band and the Band Perry," according to The Boot.

"I love the pop country stuff. I mean that's more my style," Pope told WetPaint. When I would try to explain to people-when I went solo before and didn't have a label and was trying to get labels' attention-I would say it was like an edgy Taylor Swift and not super country. And people would be like, 'Oh, country.' So I'm excited to be able to show what I meant by that and then shove it in people's faces."

Pope is reportedly working on her first solo album with her new label, but the details have not been released, according to Billboard. But she told Billboard "that she has recruited her Voice coach, Blake Shelton, to be involved."

While on The Voice, Pope landed "two top 10 hits on Billboard's Country Songs chart," the magazine reports, with her versions of 'Over You' and 'Stupid Boy.'

Her rendition of 'Over You' was a turning point in The Voice competition. The song had personal meaning for coach Blake Shelton, who co-wrote the song for his wife Miranda Lambert.

"Cassadee was a standout from day one and once she delivered her incredible version of Miranda Lambert's 'Over You, I started working over my NY label partner Monte Lipman...to try to convince him that Cassadee belonged in Nashville," Big Machine Label Group President Scott Borchetta told The Boot. "We were thrilled to find out that Cassadee was on the same page with us and wanted to come to Nashville."
