Apple iOS version 6.1 was released today, with some new features and bug fixes for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. And there's already an iOS jailbreak in the making for this version on the iPhone 5.

The biggest new feature of  iOS 6 is that it includes 4G LTE support for 36 new iPhone carriers and 23 more for iPad. Another feature is a new capability of Apple mobile users to use the voice-activated Siri service to buy movie tickets from Fandango. iOS 6.1 also adds the ability for iTunes Match customers to get their music tracks by downloading them from iCloud.

Also new is a way to reset your Advertising Identifier, allowing users to have more control over how much information advertisers can garner about their web activity. The update also fixes some bugs that weren't fully addressed in their iOS 6.0.1 update months ago.

Some of the new markets that Apple added LTE support to are in Australia, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Finland, Italy, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

"iOS 6 is the world's most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, in Apple's press release.

"iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads."

The untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad mini and other devices is being worked on right now, according to iDigitalTimes, and some rumors have it's release date on Sunday, although we'll have to see whether the hackers who broke iOS are willing to reveal their hand to Apple.
