Yet another actor has been thrown into the mix of contenders for the highly coveted role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "50 Shades of Grey." Bradley Cooper, star of the award winning film "Silver Linings Playbook," spoke about the film (more than five months ago), thus adding to the rumor mill that he could be considered.

According to Gather Entertainment, Cooper told reporters for ClevverNews back in August, "I don't believe that that's true," after being told he was a contender for the role. The former "Sexiest Man Alive" added, "I haven't even read it [the book]. I don't know anything about it, other than that it's a sex book."

The months-old interview, along with his recent denial that he was partaking in the Lance Armstrong biopic by J.J. Abrams, apparently fueled rumors that Cooper was a real contender. However, the 38-year-old not only does not seem to know about the role, he is more than a decade older than the character of seductive millionaire Christian Grey. While his looks may play in his favor, fans already have found issues with actors much older than Christian Grey vying for the role.

Casting rumors regarding the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele have run rampant since Universal Pictures and Focus Films purchased the rights to the film in early 2012. In the last fan poll conducted by Latinos Post, "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill took the lead with 34.26 percent of the votes. He was followed closely behind by long-time fan favorites Ian Somerhalder ('The Vampire Diaries') with 30.83 percent and Matt Bomer ('White Collar') with 29.04 percent.

Other actors, including Stephen Amell from the CW's 'Arrow' and film actor James Franco have shown interest in possibly playing the coveted role. However, they and the fans will have to wait until the production team decides on a director and screenwriter Kelly Marcel finishes the film's script. Both are crucial steps in the casting process, Marcel and book author E.L. James have told reporters.

The film, which counts on producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, has not established a release date as of late January 2013.
