The saga between Apple and Samsung and their patent infringement trial is not over, not in the U.S. or across the pond.

In the U.S., a trade panel has decided to review the conflict between the two tech companies. The International Trade Commission (IT C) will go over a potentially key decision in the smartphone and tablet battle.

One of the patents in question is a headset with the smartphone and the other is the device showing an image, only to show a second image when unlocked.

The ITC case number is No. 337-796.

Meanwhile in Germany, the courts ruled on Jan. 25 that Apple infringed on Samsung's 3G patent.

The infringement trial in Germany has Samsung claiming Apple's iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S smartphones and iPad 2 3G infringed on Samsung's patents.

Administered by Judge Andreas Voss, the Mannheim Regional Court announced a stay in the Samsung vs. Apple lawsuit over EP1720373, a patent Samsung had filed titled, "Method and apparatus for reporting inter-frequency measurement using RACH message in a communication system," back in 2006.

A "stay," according to Legal Dictionary, is a suspension of a case or particular proceeding within a case.

Back in December, Samsung dropped all sales ban attempts on Apple devices in Europe but is still demanding compensation payments for the alleged infringed patents.

"Samsung has decided to withdraw our injunction requests against Apple on the basis of our standard essential patents pending in European courts, in the interest of protecting consumer choice," stated the South Korea-based company last month.

Samsung and Apple waged in a patent battle in France, Italy, Netherland, and the United Kingdom.

Latinos Post has covered the trial with a series chronicling the patent infringement case.
