Sunday features the rebirth of a major rivalry when the Detroit Red Wings visit the Chicago Blackhawks.

Detroit finally looked like it got on track when it demolished Minnesota 5-3 on Friday night. The Wings exploded for four goals in the middle frame, including two power play tallies. Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterburg each had strong nights; Datsyuk tallied a goal and two assists while Zetterburg put up one goal and one assist. The victory was the first convincing performance from the team after Detroit was pummeled by St. Louis on opening night and got stifled by Dallas at home. The Red Wings barely got through Columbus in their second game, but the win over Minnesota could prove to be a major turning point in the early season.

Sunday is probably Detroit's biggest test yet as the Blackhawks won five straight matches to open the season. Chicago has only played one home game but has looked strong in each of its games; three have been one-goal victories. In their most recent win, the Blackhawks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 courtesy of goals from Jonathan Toews, Dave Bolland, and Bryan Bickell. Patrick Kane has had a dominant start to the season with nine points in the five games. Most importantly, Corey Crawford has looked stellar with a 1.99 goals against average and a92.3 save percentage.
