Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists are at it again with another video, a follow-up to the first debunked video purporting the school shooting in Newtown, Conn. in December was faked or planned by the government.

Those are two very different allegations, rolled into one. Hoax proponents seem to want something to be up. Did the government fake a school shooting so it could enact gun control legislation? Or did it take advantage of a tragedy with a cover up to bend the aftermath to its own agenda? Who knows! /s

Look, conspiracy theorists: pick one. You can't say "maybe the shooting happened on its own, but maybe it didn't, but either way the government is lying!" Obviously the initial premise of the hoax argument is "The government is lying," not "What are the facts and what is the simplest explanation that fits those facts?"

If it's any solace for those who have a hard time processing something as awful and random as the deaths of 20 schoolchildren and 6 of their teachers, the investigation into the shooting will continue at least into the summer, according to a panel convened by Conn. Gov. Dannel Malloy.

Currently, no criminal charges are pending in the investigation, as all signs point to a lone gunman who snapped. The only person who might have held some responsibility, his mother, was the first person he killed.

However, the panel is not ruling out future evidence pointing to some kind of criminal activity. See, the panel is keeping an open mind as more evidence is examined, without agenda or preconceived outcomes. Take note, conspiracy theorists!

In more heartwarming news, the parents of Catherine Violet Hubbard, a first-grader who was one of the Sandy Hook victims, are collecting donations to start an animal shelter in Newtown in her memory.

"Catherine loved all animals," the Hubbards said in a prepared statement. "She would chase down strangers just to pet their dogs, squeal with delight as butterflies landed on her arm and sit for hours watching baby birds in a nest. We would overhear her whispering to insects and animals...her words: tell all your friends that I'm kind."

This is a far more constructive outlet for grief than undermining the investigation and harassing those who have already been through so much.
