New details of the Miami 'Zombie' attack victim, Ronald Poppo, have surfaced since he had his face brutally savaged last Saturday.
According to the NY Daily News, Poppo once attended Stuyvesant High School in lower Manhattan, New York City.
A "brainy" student, Poppo ended up graduating from the prestigious high school in 1964. Everything after that, however, seems to have spiraled out of control for Poppo.
The media agency is reporting that Poppo was known to be homeless since 1976. Since then, he was arrested at least 20 times for multiple crimes including trespassing, burglary, and assault.
On May 26, experts say that Rudy Eugene chewed off at least 80 percent of Poppo's face which included his mouth, nose, eyes, and ears.
The attack on Poppo lasted a total of 18 minutes and could've lasted longer if it wasn't for Miami-Dade police officer, Jose Rivera, who finally gunned him down. Eugene died at the scene, and strangely he was naked all throughout the atrocity.
Police suspect that certain delusion-causing-drugs like "bath salts" may have played a role in causing Eugene to act like a beast. "Bath salts" are known for provoking people to go insane or become very aggressive and in this case, police Armando Aguilar, told CNN that Eugene growled violently like a wild animal when he was told to stop.
The attack was likened to a "zombie apocalypse" style attack by various media agencies since it poses, arguably, as the goriest story the U.S. has learned for some time now.
The disgusting and inhumane acts on Poppo, who is currently in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, was all caught on the surveillance video cameras of the Miami Herald, since it all occurred just few feet away from its building.

Although his face will permanently remain disfigured, experts will try to rebuild it, but will surely take several months.
All throughout most of the 18 minute attack, one can see Poppo lying unconsciously while Eugene is mindlessly and voraciously attacking him.
Who's the real man behind Rudy Eugene? Strikingly, someone who his ex-wife, Jenny Ductant, describes as "not really mentally ill but somewhat paranoid."
Toxicology tests on Rudy Eugene will be announced two weeks later and it is expected that these may shed a better light on what stimulants, if any, may have caused the unusual act.
As for Poppo, the donation website launched states:
"For Ronald Poppo, the victim of the gruesome "zombie" attack in Miami. He has experienced savagery, let him now experience humanity."
The fundraiser ends on August 31, 2012.
