The Sundance Film Festival has continued with full force with many of this year's most anticipated films already premiering.
Sex themed films have dominated the festival, with many pundits calling this year's Sundance the porn year. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Don Jon's Addiction" hit headlines on Jan. 21 when it was bought by Relativity. "Addiction" will be released in the summer with critics talking about an NC-17 rating.
"Lovelace" starring Amanda Seyfried is yet to premiere but already has pundits talking. The film tells the story of Linda Lovelace, the star of the X-rated film "Deep Throat."
Another film that hasd people talking is Daniel Radcliffe's "Kill Your Darlings" because of the gay sex scenes he is involved in. However the actor commented that he did not understand the surprise. He stated "For me, there's something very strange about that because we see straight sex scenes all the time. We've seen gay sex scenes before. I don't know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally un-shocking."
Many movies have already landed deals, including Nat Faxon and Jim Rash's directional debut "The Way Way Back." The film stars Sam Rockwell, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, and Maya Rudolph and will be distributed by Fox Searchlight. Sony pictures acquired "Austenland" about a woman obsessed with BBC's "Pride and Prejudice." The Weinstein Company also acquired two films: "Fruitvale" and "Concussion."
Two movies that also made waves included "Upstream Colors" and "Ain't Them Bodies Saints." The films were some of the most awaited films due to their visual styles. "Upstream Color" will be released in April while "Saints" is still looking for a distributor.
