On Jan. 25, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" will open nationwide. The movie stars Gemma Arteron, Jeremy Renner, and Famke Janssen,

Directed by Tommy Wirkola, the movie is a spin off of the classic Grimm brothers fairy tale. The movie tells the story of bounty hunters Hansel and Gretel as they track and kill witches all over the world.  As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.

Academy Award Nominee Jeremy Renner was last seen in the mega blockbuster "The Avengers" and in "The Bourne Legacy." He next stars in "Lowlife" alongside Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix.  Gemma Arteron last starred in "Tamara Drewe" in 2010. She will next be seen in the vampire thriller "Byzantium" and "Runner Runner" alongside Ben Affleck.

Famke Janssen will next reprise her role as Jean Grey in James Mangold's X-Men spinoff "The Wolverine" this summer.

"Hansel and Gretel" marks Tommy Wirkola's American film debut. The Norwegian director has directed "Dead Snow" and Kill Buljo," a Norwegian spin off of Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill."

"Hansel and Gretel" also stars Derek Mears, Pihla Vitala and Thomas Mann. The movie is distributed by Paramount and will be released in 3,000 theaters. "Witch Hunters" is rated R for strong fantasy horror violence and gore, brief sexuality/nudity and language
