Director Bryan Singer once again took to Instagram to announce the latest updates about his upcoming film "X-Men: Apocalypse." In his latest revelation posted on the photo-sharing app yesterday, Singer gladly announced that "Newsroom" actress Olivia Munn would be joining the movie's cast as Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke.

According to Cinema Blend, "Psylocke has powers that are similar to that of Jean Grey. A master of telekinesis, she eventually acquired the body (and powers) of a female ninja. She is a character who has changed multiple times of the years."
Variety noted that Munn's character Psylocke first appeared in comic books in 1976. However, the character did not get much presence. As for her movie appearance, the mutant was seen in the 2006 movie "X-Men: The Last Stand."
Singer has also earlier shared on Instagram several other announcements related to the film, including his announcement of the three new actors have been included in the movie cast list, though the photo was just a screenshot of his tweet. The three new actors/actresses named in the tweet were Sophie Turner, known for her role in the hit TV series "Game of Thrones," as Jean Grey; Tye Sheridan, known for the movie "Tree of Life," as Cyclops; and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.
Two months ago, Singer also officially announced via another Instagram post that they already found the young Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler -- Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee who is known for his role in movies "The Road," "Let Me In," and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes."
Three weeks ago, Singer also announced on Instagram another actress joining the cast. The actress is Lana Condor as Jubilee/Jubilation Lee.
Other actors/actresses included in the movie's cast list include Ben Hardy as Angel, "American Horror Story" star Evan Peters as Quicksilver, James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert.
Screen Rant said the storyline of "X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to be set in the 1980s, following the "traditions" of the previous movies "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" which were set in the 1960s and 1970s, respectively. The movie is directed by Singer from the script written by Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters in May next year.
