After a coffee shop, a parody of Starbucks, opened its doors on Friday, Feb. 7 in Los Angeles, it was revealed that Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder is behind this successful parody.

The doors of "Dumb Starbucks" were opened on Friday, offering similar beverages to those of the famous coffee shop chain with a similar name, without the "Dumb" prefix, causing exhilarated reactions from social networks and gathering thousands of people willing to wait up to three hours to be able to buy a "dumb" coffee.

The comedy star of the "Nathan For You" show, known for its pranks on businesses, said that although his coffee shop has the intention of being a parody of and mocking Starbucks, the use of the Dumb Starbucks name has a legal basis, by supporting its trademark in a law known as "fair use", according to Reuters.

However, despite Starbucks challenging the parody as a violation of its trademark, they weren't responsible for the shutdown of Fielder's coffee shop, it was the Department of Public Health who ordered the suspension of activities of the coffee shop located in The Los Feliz Store on 1802 Hillhurst Ave., claiming that Dumb Starbucks did not have the necessary permits to operate.

CBS released a video showing dozens of people in line for their dumb coffee. On Saturday and Sunday, the coffee shop's fame had quickly spread and even on Monday some curious clients sought the opportunity to buy a coffee from the shop.

Fielder announced that after the success of his Dumb Starbucks shop, he now plans to open a new shop in Brooklyn, NY.

On its Twitter account, Dumb Starbucks shows its coffee and tea options, in the same style as Starbucks.
