A Casa Grande, Ariz. woman has been accused of attempting to poison her four children, killing one of them, and stabbing her husband, authorities told local media.

Connie Villa, 35, was arrested by Casa Grande Police Sunday, Dec. 28 as a suspect on the charges of premeditated murder and four charges of attempted murder, according to the ABC.

A Casa Grande Police report indicates that the 35-year-old woman called her ex-husband, Adam Villa, 33, to visit her on Christmas at her home. When the man arrived at Connie's apartment, she allegedly stabbed him repeatedly on his torso and back.

Adam managed to escape and alerted the police who arrived at Villa's house, forced their way into the apartment and found the woman with self-inflicted knife wounds and Villa's three sons — ages 3, 5 and 8 — who were unharmed.

When police officers inspected the home, they found the body of Aniarael Macias, 13, Villa's daughter.

While for the results of the autopsy and toxicology reports are pending, the police believe the minor was poisoned by her mother, according to CBS.

The minors are with their father's family. Medics revealed they found traces of opiates, probably bought with a prescription, in their systems, which prompted authorities to investigate whether Villa tried to poison her four children on Christmas Eve.

Adam Villa is still in a hospital. His health is reportedly stable.
