It has been a big day for Facebook. The social media network released an update of its mobile app.
Listed as Facebook Version 6.8, the updated app includes videos that automatically play on one's News Feed when the user taps for sound.

The reviews for the new app by fellow users provided mixed results.
"The new update on the Facebook app does not allow you to scroll up and see old messages while you are typing or replying to a new one," reviewed Cowgirl13576 on iTunes. "As someone who tends to send long messages as I basically use it as email, this is extremely annoying and makes it basically impossible to send messages on my phone, especially when replying to a message from someone else. Otherwise the new updates are great!"
"Every new version seems to bring new problems and no fixes," wrote Tyggs. "Prone to crashing, goes unresponsive for a minute or more at a time whenever I click a link or image, no way to set default sorting - forced to switch from the ill-named top stories sorting very time, etc, etc."
In regards to the updated video feature, TARDISPilot shared, "Auto play videos in news feed? BAD. You are forcing use of cellular data when some people may have limited plans. I know that I don't like to download and view all videos, so why are you forcing me to download them in the first place? This is a waste... or are you going to reimburse me for my data loss, Facebook? It will also potentially slow down/hinder any other downloads or network connected processes because of this."
Facebook issued a comment to The Verge stating the feature can be set to work on Wi-Fi only, however, it won't turn off the new add-on completely.
The latest Facebook app update requires 52.7MB of memory from one's Apple device. Although Apple launched iOS 7 in September, the app update can be installed onto iOS 6 devices.
According to Apple iTunes, the Facebook app is compatible in Bokmål, Norwegian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Vietnamese languages.
The Facebook update comes as Instagram, also owned by Facebook, launched an update to send images and video directly to users via Instagram Direct instead of automatically sharing publicly.
