Samsung continues to roll out its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S4. It hasn't hit the U.S. yet in official form, but news of the continued roll-out - without any major issues or roadblocks being reported - can be nothing but sweet music to the ears of Galaxy S4 owners who have been waiting for an updated Android operating system.
This time, the roll out is in India, where owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 variant are getting the update either OTA (over the air) or via Samsung Kies, if owners are too impatient to wait for the OTA update to hit their devices.
According to Samsung watching site SamMobile, the Android 4.3 update includes several upgrades both on the face of the device and behind the scenes. Here's a list of the new features:
New Samsung Keyboard
New Samsung Default Browser, with a new tab interface and full screen by default
New Reading Mode for some specific applications
Updated Camera firmware
UI Modifications for Contacts, Flashlight, and other minor apps
TRIM Support for improved performance
Samsung KNOX (bootloader and pre-loaded app)
Samsung Wallet pre-loaded
Better RAM management
Higher performance TouchWiz launcher
Better color reproduction for a sharper display
Open GL 3.0 for better graphics
The Samsung Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update started in smaller markets and is making its way towards larger ones. It began in Germany, and has since spread to Russia, Indonesia, and now India. You can expect the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade to hit the U.S. any day now.
Who knows? Maybe Samsung will try to steal some of Apple's thunder tomorrow (with the next-gen iPad and iPad mini unveiling) by rolling out the update then. Any time soon would be greatly appreciated.
