It doesn't come as too much of a surprise that Verizon has a release date for the LG G2 set for mid September. Verizon Wireless will be the first carrier in the U.S. to get the LG G2, with a confirmed release date of September 12.

According to GigaOM, Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it will be launching the LG G2 a day ahead of AT&T for $199.99 with a two-year agreement. The company will also offer wireless charging support for the LG G2, which is an exclusive to Big Red.

This comes as little surprise for LG G2 watchers, as the handset was rumored to have that exact release date weeks earlier, and the wireless charging capability was already known to be an ability for only the LG G2 on Verizon Wireless.  The price puts the LG G2 in premium-android-smartphone land, along with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

LG Electronics' new smartphone is a premium smartphone, and it's the company's flagship handset for 2013. It comes with a 5.2-inch touchscreen (which LG Electronics says is the perfect size for the average hand), with Full High Definition resolution, at 1080 x 1920p. The device is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, clocked at 2.26GHz, with an Adreno 330 GPU and supported by 2GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of internal storage, but there is no microSD card slot for more memory expansion.

The LG G2 features a 13-megapixel main camera, which is in line with competing smartphones, along with a front-facing shooter. The LG G2 comes with a custom LG UI layered over Android 4.2.2 and a "Rear Key," which is a volume rocker and button on the very back of the smartphone, which LG Electronics says is the exact place where users' fingers rest when they're talking on the phone.
