Google's Android KitKat ad has an unintentional easter egg, giving away details about the Nexus 5.

Google made an announcement Tuesday that it was not imminently releasing "Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie," but, rather, the next iteration of the Android operating system would be Android 4.4. The move surprised many, but Google provided further shock by naming Android 4.4 after Nestle's KitKat brand. So the next generation of Google devices, like the Google Nexus 5, will be running Android 4.4. KitKat. Google even released a promotional video, showing its Mountain View employees excitedly watching, and documenting with their smartphones, the installation of an Android statue, which is made to look like it's constructed of huge KitKats. Here's the video below:

Two things about the video: First, did you notice that it's not the official Google promotion, but rather a YouTube mirror video? Second, did you see the man holding an LG Nexus 5 at about 0:38 in the ad?

That's right, Google accidentally leaked what the Nexus 5 looks like (at least the back of the device) and which manufacturer it will be made by in its Android 4.4 KitKat promotional video. Keen eyed (and Nexus 5-obsessed) observers spotted the device, which was almost certainly accidentally included in the ad, because Google pulled the video shortly after the LG Nexus 5 was spotted. That's why the video above is a mirror instead of the Google YouTube channel.

So there you have it. A question that has been hotly debated many times over the last few months - which manufacturer will be making Google's Nexus 5 - has finally (seemingly) been settled. For all intents and purposes, we can say that Motorola will not be making the Google Nexus 5. LG Electronics will.

Whether the Google Nexus 5 will be based on the LG G2 is still up for debate. We'll certainly be getting more details in the coming weeks, as Google has signaled the ramp-up to the Nexus 5 by getting rid of its Nexus 4 stock, and is now announcing the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
