It's been confirmed by high sources that the highly anticipated "Samsung Unpacked 2013: Episode 2" event, happening September 4 in Berlin, exists for the sole purpose of unveiling two new products - the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and its smartwatch accessory, Samsung Galaxy Gear.

But since it's so tough to wait for many, here is a roundup of what we know and what we think we know about the Samsung Galaxy Gear ahead of that date.

The first thing that is unshakeable is the fact that the Galaxy Gear exists, which the Korea Times confirmed with Samsung executive vice president Lee Young-hee: The Galaxy Gear is a smartwatch accessory that will accompany the Galaxy Note 3 on September 4.

The second thing that we can be pretty certain of is the fact that Samsung is working on flexible displays, but that the Galaxy Gear will likely not feature it. This also comes from the Korea Times' interview with Lee Young-hee.

Other details are unofficial, so they could be wrong. However, you can be pretty sure of a few things, including some of the specs of the new smartwatch, as several independent sources have leaked these specs several times over the last few weeks.

The Galaxy Gear will likely have dual core processor, clocked to 1.5GHz. It may be of the Samsung Exynos variety, but it's possible that another manufacturer's processor will be used. It's also pretty likely that the Galaxy Gear will have 1GB of RAM. The display has been leaked several times as being square (though the exact dimensions are not quite nailed down), with a 320 x 320p resolution. The most recent leaks put it at a 2.5-inch OLED display. Finally, an unspecified battery is touted to power the device for up to 10 hours.

As we get down the line, some of the additional details are more shaky, but these latest specs have been leaked to GigaOM, which is a pretty reliable source. The Galaxy Gear is rumored to have a 4-megapixel camera, which is capable of capturing 720p video, so Dick Tracy-land, here we come. Also, unsurprisingly, the most recent leaks have the being Galaxy Gear Bluetooth 4.0-capable. Other specs include speakers, and accelerometer, and some form of Android Jelly Bean running on the device.

There are more details that have leaked about the software for the device, starting with this screenshot by renowned tech leaker @evleaks:

This is purportedly the Samsung Galaxy Gear manager - the way you'll connect your Galaxy Gear to your mobile device. Not much can be garnered from the screenshot other than the fact that the Galaxy Gear is using NFC to pair with tethered devices and that the "Gear manager" will allow you to manage certain things, like clock options, smartwatch apps, and general settings. Another handy possibility hinted at by this leak is that you'll be able to find your Galaxy Gear using your smartphone, perhaps in a way similar to the Kensington Proximo.

Finally, a general window for the release date of the Galaxy Gear has been leaked by an anonymous source for SamMobile, saying that the Galaxy Note 3 will ship as early as a couple weeks after the "Unpacked 2013" event, with the Galaxy Gear shipping about a month afterwards. That puts the Galaxy Gear's release date sometime in mid-October. Finally, there are reports that the Galaxy Gear will come in White, Orange, Gray, Black, and White Gold.

What isn't known about the Galaxy Gear? Lots of things, including its exact specs, how Samsung has adapted the Android OS to a wrist-based device, what kind of apps Samsung will have ready for the device, and - most importantly - how much it will cost. Stay tuned to Latinos Post for September 4, where we'll have a live stream set up so we can find out the rest of the details on the Samsung Galaxy Gear together.
