The Sony Xperia Z1 is now the name of what tech bloggers were calling the Sony Xperia i1 Honami. Now that the device has the correct moniker, it looks like it will be getting a release date in India just a week after the IFA 2013 consumer electronics show in Berlin, which means that other countries could expect to see the camera-centric Xperia Z1 (Honami) releasing nearby soon as well.

The Xperia Z1 (Honami) is expected to make an inaugural appearance in Berlin in about a week, where Sony is also expected to unveil other camera-centric devices. Now, according to sources close to BGR's India bureau, the Sony Xperia Z1 will launch in Sept. 18 at an event in New Delhi. Other details were divulged from the anonymous source, including an appearance by Bollywood star Katrina Kaif.

It looks like the smartphone will cost about 50,000 Rs (about $730 U.S.) if BGR India's sources are correct. India may be one of the first countries to see the launch of the Sony Xperia Z1 Honami, with others either launching at about the same time or following closely behind.

The Sony Xperia Z1 is rumored to be Sony's attempt at the growing camera-focused segment of the smartphone market, where the Nokia Lumia 1020 is currently a star player. The Xperia Z1 will reportedly have a Cybershot-branded 20-megapixel sensor with Carl Zeiss optics, along with a proprietary Sony G lens. The Xperia Z1 is expected to be the first phone to shoot at the ultra high definition 4K resolution, unless the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets there first.

The device will look much like the other Xperia Z devices in its chassis. The device is expected to be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, assisted by 2GB of RAM. The 5-inch display will have Sony's Triluminus technology, boasting 1080p resolutions. Other specs expected for the device formerly known as the Xperia i1 Honami include 16GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3,000 mAh battery.
