Once again, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have two choices: you can either feel even more slighted by the South Korean phone manufacturer, or you can become ever more hopeful about the possibility that their Galaxy S3s will be upgraded straight to Android 4.3. It's up to you.

As it is wont to do by now, Samsung has released the Android 4.2.2 update to another mid-range Galaxy phone, before last year's flagship gets any Android update attention. This time, it's the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos in Russia that is getting an OTA update to Android 4.2.2, according to SamMobile. If you're a Galaxy Grand Duos owner in Russia (Model number GT- I9082), you're in luck. The update, build number I9105PXXUBMG8, will bring you lockscreen widgets, dedicated toggles menus, better multitasking, the Daydream screensaver mode, and lots of little performance improvements and new widgets from Samsung's custom UI.

If you're not a Galaxy Grand Duos owner in the country, you may be a little frustrated. Samsung has seemingly been updating its devices from the bottom up, first releasing the Android 4.2.2 update to Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus users in Germany. After that, the company rolled out the newer Jelly Bean operating system to the Galaxy Note 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S3 owners have been waiting in the wings, getting mixed signals about the Android 4.2.2 system upgrade. Some providers - along with rumors - state that Samsung is passing up the Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy S3 and giving owners a direct update to Android 4.3. But Samsung has been frustratingly shy about confirming this, so Galaxy S3 owners will just have to continue to be patient - even if they own a flagship device - as mid-tier phones and phablets across the world get an Android update, while they don't. If you're a Galaxy S3 owner, stay with us, as we'll continue to provide updates about the possible Android 4.3 or 4.2.2 upgrade.
