After lots of rumors and leaks, the HTC One Mini looks to be real, and inevitable. While some leaked photos purporting to be the One Mini, previously talked about under the shorthand name "M4," were iffy, the latest leaked photo of the supposed HTC handset, caught by Engadget, is so convincing that it pretty much seals the deal. The HTC One Mini is almost certainly real.

Engadget said it got the photo from a "trusted source" who has the diminutive cousin of the HTC One in hand. The source also confirmed some specs. The screen indeed appears to be a 4.3-inch display, as has been reported here and elsewhere with other anonymous sources, including one reported by Bloomberg over the last few weeks. This puts the HTC One Mini in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, which has the exact same sized screen. Engadget is still not sure of the screen resolution, but previous rumors have it at a decent 720p resolution, compared to the 1080p of the HTC One's 4.7-inch display.

Judging by the most recent photo — more so than any previously leaked photo — the HTC One Mini will really look like a smaller version of the HTC One, with the same type of metallic chassis, though the Mini looks to have a plastic edging around the front face of the device. Now the question is, are previous purported photos of the HTC One Mini not true, or is it likely to come in black and metal?

Other specs confirmed by Engadget's latest HTC One Mini leaker include a lack of an IR blaster, but it will run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 with HTC's BlinkFeed UI over it, for better or worse. There's still no word on what kind of camera the HTC One Mini will have, but it's been previously reported that an Ultrapixel camera of some sort will be on board. Engadget was able to confirm with its anonymous source that the primary camera will be capable of recording video in full high definition and it will also feature Zoe share capture. The processor is supposedly a dual-core 1.4GHz, which is the first time a specific clock speed has been attributed to the HTC One Mini.

These are still anonymously sourced reports, so we'll have to wait until HTC announces something to be sure, but it does seem that the HTC One Mini is real, and will be headed this way sometime later this year.
