UPDATE: (12 p.m. EST): President Barack Obama has been sworn-in for the second term by Justice John Roberts. President Obama was accompanied with his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha.

--

As Americans await the festivities of Monday's 57th inauguration, this morning will be the official swearing-in of Barack Obama.

In a feat not done since Ronald Reagan, President Obama will be sworn-in twice, one on Sunday morning and the second with the public on Monday.

The two oaths will be needed since the 20th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, "The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the [third] day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin."

As Latinos Post reported, past presidents who have had two swearing-in ceremonies in the same year include Ronald Reagan, Dwight D. Eisenhower, James Monroe, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson. According to the Washington Post, Inauguration Day falls on Sunday once every 28 years. It is set to happen again in 2041, 2069, and 2097.

U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts will administer President Obama's second inauguration at 11:55 a.m. EST, as he did in 2009.

Vice President Joe Biden was also sworn-in earlier today by Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Biden selected Sotomayor to administer the oath, however, a scheduling conflict made it impossible for the Justice to have the oath done next to President Obama's noon time. Instead, the vice president's oath was done at 8:15 a.m. EST.
